Hi! I’m Melisse and have just joined the mariadowling team, as a Senior Colourist. This month, I’ve been tasked with a ‘newsletter take-over’ to give me a chance to tell you a bit about me and what makes me tick. When I’m not in the salon, I love spending time with my husband and my 2 fur baby Schnauzers who I brought all the way from South Africa.
I’m originally from South Africa and trained in cutting at Vidal Sassoon before working as a colourist and educator for big hair brands like Wella, Paul Mitchell and Davines. Did you know we now stock Davines at mariadowling Salon?
I’m always being asked about the latest colour trends for hair. This Fall/Winter season we’re seeing a gradual move away from the ombre/balayage trend that has been so strong over the past few years. We are doing more of what we call a rootmelt with babylights. A rootmelt gives a much softer blend of colours, and you can keep the grey roots covered with a natural base.
My favourite product I’m currently using in the salon has to be Kerastase Discipline Fluidissime. It’s a great pre blowdry primer and heat protector that doesn’t weigh the hair down and tames frizz too…perfect for the humid September months!
